ON THE ROAD FOR SEPTEMBER 5
September is here, which means the unofficial (last weekend) and official end
of summer (in a few weeks). But while it's time to stop kicking back to relax
during some of the longest days of the year, September also means it's time
for Tuxedo Junction's kick-back to a previous decade, because this month the
Danbury club is not just hosting one throwback to the 80s - a show by DOKKEN
on the 16th - but two throwbacks, the second coming in the form of QUIET RIOT,
September 21.
One of next week's shows at the Danbury club, previously billed as an all ages
event with TREE and 25 TA LIFE, has been upped to a quintuplet bill. (Does
this mean it now qualifies for a tax break under "Festival" status?) Also
playing next Thursday night will be STITCH, TORN BETWEEN and DIE MY WILL. The
PARADISE ALLEY on the 20th has been replaced by STRAIGHT WIRED; and FOAM will
be performing on the 27th, another band change.
HUBINGER STREET has been added for a show on the 25th, with The Way opening;
that's another all ages show. The band has also been added to the Toad's Place
schedule in New Haven, with an all-ages show down there on October 16.
Back in Danbury, Tuxedo Junction has landed a good catch for next month: THIRD
EYE BLIND, fresh off the Radio 104 Big Day Off in Hartford concert just two
days prior, will be at Tuxedo Junction on Monday, October 6.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road, counting the minutes left
before 8 pm Monday night, when the new season of "Melrose Place" starts up.
Just to get the celebrations going, let's get one last bit of advice from our
handy guidebook of life (a/k/a Life Lessons From Melrose Place ): "It's best
to avoid having conversations with strange, imaginary gypsy men who randomly
appear in mirrors and urge you to kill the people around you!"
(And remember: Never call Shannon's house between 8 and 9 on Monday nights.
That's not just advice, it's Gospel.)
