ON THE ROAD/SHANNON HICKS
WPKN has finally, officially, announced the availability of tickets for the
upcoming GREG BROWN show at Edmond Town Hall. Mr "Slant 6 Mind" will be at the
town hall on Thursday, November 12... but regular readers would already know
all about that. Tickets are $12 and available in town at Grand Union in
Newtown, among other locations, or call WPKN at 331-9756.
What is new is the announcement that Karen Savoca, not Bill Morrissey as had
been previously rumored, is opening the 8 pm concert. Ms Savoca has a new
album called On the River Road to promote. She performs with the guitarist
Peter Heitzman.
One of the most popular rock bands in Ireland, THE SAW DOCTORS will be in
Norwalk at The Globe Theatre for a concert on Wednesday, November 11. The band
has a number of top ten singles in the UK and also holds the distinction of
having the best-selling single in Irish history, so I am told. The band
recently headlined the Guinness Fleadh Festival when it visited New York,
Chicago and San Francisco. Tickets are $15 for this show; call the theatre at
852-0088.
Also coming to the theatre in November is THE PAT McGEE BAND, who will be
performing a benefit for Amnesty International on Thursday, November 19.
Originally from Virginia, this band is is high demand for its folky, energized
acoustic sound. I have no info on ticket prices for this one; call the
theatre.
MARION MEADOWS' annual Christmas party at Toad's Place in New Haven has been
switched from December 17 to December 20. Additionally, the MIGHTY PURPLE
December 22 has been bumped one week; it will now be on the 29th.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road, having a mighty happy
Halloween!
