ON THE ROAD FOR AUGUST 29
An interesting month ahead at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury. Not only has QUIET
RIOT been booked for a show on the 21st (changed from the original date of
September 18), but DOKKEN will also be playing, on the 16th. Quiet Riot is an
all-ages show, with Product of Society opening and $13 tickets when purchased
in advance (add $2 the night of the show). Dokken is a regular 21+ show, and
tickets are $16 in advance, $18 at the door.
Additional shows this month include SEAWEED next Tuesday night, with Creature
Did and an all ages audience; VOODOO GLOW SKULLS on Wednesday, Shelter
opening, all ages, with a very early 5:30 pm start (that's no typo at this
end, that's how the schedule reads); and GUSTER on Thursday, Thanks To Gravity
and Jade 42 opening, all ages. The following week, TREE-TALIFE performs
September 11, all ages; and at the end of the month, LIFE OF AGONY headlines a
show on September 28, with Dogman and Drain in the opening spots, again all
ages.
Tickets are finally on sale for the INXS show at The Oakdale on September 22.
That's a Monday, but who cares?? It's going to be a great show regardless of
the day it's played on!
Also new, and I've been meaning to mention it, is a concert by JEWEL at The
Oakdale. That show is going to be September 10. Tickets are going on sale next
Saturday (Sept 6) for two more shows at the Oakdale: STEVE WINWOOD, on October
5, and BLUES TRAVELER, October 27.
THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS has been added to the schedule at The Webster in Hartford
(where INXS was going to play originally, but the band's show - not to mention
the six-member band itself! - was too large for the Webster's stage, so it was
moved). The Giants will be playing Friday, September 5.
In case you have managed to miss the onslaught of commercials being played
between every other song on the station, Radio 104 has another of its Big Day
Off concerts in the works. At The Meadows in Hartford on October 4, this one
includes LOVE SPIT LOVE and THE OFFSPRING among its offerings. Tickets went on
sale Monday at $20 for Pavilion seats, $15 lawn, and the mosh pit tickets are
already gone.
It's amazing sometimes the things you can find while thumbing through the
phone book. Did you know SNET offers a toll-free daily update for the soap
operas we're missing while at work? I did not, until just a few nights ago.
Dial up 888/711-5050 and enter a four-digit code for your favorite soap, and
voila! - it's not only an update, but just about a play-by-play,
scene-by-scene recapping of what happened that day. Truly, it's a beautiful
thing!
So here are the code numbers: All My Children, 1400; Another World, 1402; As
The World Turns, 1404; The Bold and The Beautiful, 1406; Days Of Our Lives,
1408; General Hospital, 1410; Guiding Light, 1412; The City (is that one still
on?), 1414; One Life To Live, 1416; and The Young and The Restless, 1420. For
an inside look at the soaps, hit 1422 for Soap Scene.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the side of the road, dialing up
your favorite soap updates from the nearby pay or car phone. (Stop the car and
get out. Don't do the driving-while-on-the-car-phone thing. Not cool.)
