Dorothy J. Patrignelli
Dorothy J. Patrignelli, 61, daughter of the late Emil and Egilia Patrignelli,
died December 15 in Connecticut Hospice of Branford. She was the sister of
Amelia Adams of Sandy Hook.
Born in Bridgeport, she was a lifelong resident. She was the retired
bookkeeper for Steeves-Smith and Associates of Monroe where she had worked for
over 18 years. She had also worked for the Lawrence Buffert Insurance Co.
Survivors include her brothers, Arthur Patrignelli of Fairfield and Donald
Patrignelli of Bridgeport; another sister, Dianna Koskelowski of Seymour; and
several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at St Andrew's Church on December 19 at 10 am where a
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in Gate of
Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held December 18 from 4 to 8 pm at the
Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the American
Cancer Society or to Connecticut Hospice of Branford.

Rose Mary Melle
Rose Mary Melle, 84, of 25 High Street, Danbury, grandmother of Kimberly Gaeta
of Newtown, died at the Danbury Hospital December 15. She was the wife of the
late Frank C. Melle.
Born in New Haven, May 7, 1914, daughter of Angelo and Mary Petrucci Franco,
she came to Danbury as a child and attended Danbury schools.
On September 5, she and Mr Melle celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
His death occurred Oct. 4.
She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her home and family.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and formerly of its Ladies
Guild.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Frances Gaeta and her husband Dominic Gaeta
of Brookfield, and Ann Lucille Jarrell and her husband Dr Walter Jarrell of
Spring, Tex.; a sister, Sue Ponn of Danbury; another granddaughter, Holly A.
Gonzalez of North Miami, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church
December 18 at 9:30 am. Interment will be in St Peter's Cemetery. There are no
calling hours.

Marion E. Phillips
Marion E. Phillips, 92, formerly of Pilgrim Lane, Sandy Hook, mother of
Richard Phillips of Sandy Hook, died December 16 in Mediplex of Danbury where
she had resided several years. She was the wife of the late Loren B. Phillips.
She was born in Talmidge, Me., August 11, 1906, daughter of the late Wendell
and Eleanor Kellogg. A resident of Sandy Hook for 20 years, she was a member
of the Bible Baptist Church and a former member of the Lee Baptist Church in
Lee, Me.
In addition to her son and his wife, Trudy, she is survived by one brother,
Roy Kellogg of Buchanan, Tenn.; one sister, Ruth Kellogg Duval of Leominister,
Mass.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
Calling hours will be held after 2 pm December 19 at the Honan Funeral Home,
58 Main Street, Newtown. Funeral services will take place at 3 pm. Interment
will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee, Me.

John G. Stiles
John G. Stiles, 71, a retired real estate and business broker, died December
15, in Danbury Hospital. Mr Stiles was the husband of Jacquelyn (Ritch) Stiles
and resided at 6 Castle Hill Road, Newtown.
He was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., August 12, 1927, son of the late Harold and
Mildred (Greenwood) Stiles. He was a graduate of New Rochelle High School and
Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va. During the Korean Conflict, he served
in the Navy Air Corps as a Flight Engineer. He has been a resident of Newtown
the past 26 years and was currently serving as chairman of the Newtown
Building Appeals Board.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Russell Stiles of Newtown; a
daughter, Carolyn Arneth of Sandy Hook; a sister, Mary Sanders of Coventry,
Vt.; and a granddaughter, Molly Arneth.
Funeral services will be held December 18 at 11 am in the Honan Funeral Home,
58 Main Street, Newtown, with the Rev Kathleen Adams-Shepherd officiating.
Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery. Calling hours were scheduled for
December 17 from 7 to 9 pm.

Demetrius (Dan) Howryletz
Demetrius (Dan) Howryletz, 86, husband of Helen (Safka) Howryletz of Taunton
Lake Road, Newtown, a retired salesman for Continental Baking Co., died
December 14, in Danbury Hospital.
He was born in New York City September 29, 1912. A former resident of Astoria,
Queens, N.Y., he had been a permanent resident of Newtown since 1972. In 1935
Mr and Mrs Howryletz were married at St George's Church in New York City. This
year they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary.
Mr Howryletz was an active volunteer at Sandy Hook School and was a member and
Eucharistic Minister of St Rose of Lima Church, a former member of the St Rose
Theater Group and a member of the Virgilius Council #185, Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Matthew of Danbury and
Peter of Wantagh, N.Y.; a daughter, Patricia Nielsen of Falls Church, Va.; and
four grandchildren, Jennifer and Susan Nielsen and Brian and Thomas Howryletz.
Funeral services were held December 17, from the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main
Street, Newtown, and in St Rose Church for a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment was in St Rose Cemetery.
Lillian E. Stefurak
Lillian E. Stefurak, 79, of 36 Stygar Terrace, Derby, mother of Barbara
Presnell of Newtown, died December 10, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She
was the wife of the late William S. Stefurak.
Born in Fairfield, August 1, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Ignatius
and Antoinette Jakucenis, and had resided in Derby for the past 23 years. She
retired from General Electric in Bridgeport, and had previously worked at
Columbia Record Co. She was a member of St Mary's Church in Derby, the Ladies
Guild of the church, and the Ansonia Senior Center.
She is survived by two sons, Robert W. Stefurak of Middletown and William
Stefurak of Virginia; three other daughters, Gloria Bunosso of Ansonia, Judy
LeClaire of Seymour, and Elizabeth Orazietti of Derby; a brother, Vincent
Jakucenis of Trumbull; three sisters, Helen Somley of Fairfield, Irene
Goldberg of Florida, and Rita Ricketts of Maryland; 19 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
three sisters, Claire Sakal, Christine Murphy, and Anna Barocsi; a grandson,
Robert Stefurak; and a great-grandson, Frank W. Lee.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held December 14 in St Mary's Church. Burial
was in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. The Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home,
253 Elizabeth Street, Derby, was in charge of arrangements.
Donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer
Society.

Philip F. Britton
Philip F. Britton, 60, of Tanner Hill Road, Whitehall, N.Y., nephew of
Beatrice Pitcher of Newtown, died December 10 at Rutland Regional Medical
Center, Rutland, Vt., following a long illness.
Born on June 9, 1938, in Newtown, he was the son of the late Philip F. and
Elsie May (Conger) Britton.
Mr Britton was a self-employed drywall applicator. He was a member of the
Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Fair Haven, Vt.
In addition to his aunt, survivors include his companion and very special
friend, Annie Brokowski of Whitehall, N.Y.; two sons, Philip F. Britton of
Apache Junction, Ariz. and Robert W. Britton of Danbury; two brothers,
Benjamin Britton of Whitehall, N.Y., and Edwin Britton of Seabring, Fla.
Services were conducted December 14 at the Michael Angiolillo Funeral Home in
Whitehall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

George Vincent, Jr
George G. Vincent, Jr, 73, formerly of Newtown and Bethel, husband of Maxine
(Lathrop) Vincent, died December 12 at his home.
Mr Vincent was born June 28, 1925, in Danbury, son of the late George G. and
Lina (Joyce) Vincent.
Mr Vincent graduated from Danbury High School in 1943. He worked for the New
York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad for 20 years and retired from the Bethel
Post Office after 21 years as a letter carrier. He was a veteran of the Navy
and Marines, serving in World War II. Mr Vincent was a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars Post 149, a member of the National Association of Retired
Federal Employees #2069 and a member of the Circle B Square Dance Club in
Bethel.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, George G. Vincent, III, of New
Milford; a daughter, Nancy Ballard, of East Hampton; a sister, Vera Flanagan,
of Norfolk, Va.; two grandsons, Brent and Derek Vincent, both of New Milford;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services were held December 15 at the Southbury Funeral Home of
Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main Street North, Route 6. Burial will be at the
convenience of the family.

Robert T. Bierbower
Robert T. Bierbower, 51, of 291 Riggs Road, Oxford, son of Robert T. Thomas of
Newtown and the late Jacqueline Downs, died December 11. He had made his home
in Brookfield on Horseshoe Drive but moved to Oxford three months ago to be
cared for by his family during his illness.
He was born in Norwalk, October 3, 1947. He moved later to New Milford where
he was educated in New Milford schools and was a graduate of New Milford High
School, Class of 1966. He later graduated from Western Connecticut State
College with a bachelor of arts degree in history, class of 1971.
He lived most of his life in the Brookfield and New Milford areas. He was
self-employed in construction and also as a substance abuse counselor for
Danbury Youth Services and in private practice for several years. Mr Bierbower
was a member of the Congregational Church of Brookfield and was a Stephens
Minister for the church.
Besides his father, he is survived by a son, Justin T. Bierbower of
Brookfield; two daughters, Michelle M. Bierbower of Beacon Falls, N.Y. and
Shannon C. Tanner of Oxford; three brothers, Beryl P. Bierbower of Northfield,
Peter Sanford of Danbury and Michael B. Bierbower of New Milford; four
sisters, LaDoris Platt of Washington, LaDonna Lynn Moore of Santa Rosa,
Calif., Karen Perrone of Northfield and Nancy B. Carlson of New Milford; and
several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his lifelong special
friend, Susan J. Kovacs of Oxford.
Funeral services were held December 14 at the Congregational Church of
Brookfield at 7:30 pm with the Rev Peter Wiley, pastor, officiating. Cremation
followed.

George N. Aubin
George Napoleon Aubin, brother of Fred Aubin of Newtown, died in his home on
December 10. He was born in Providence, R.I., to Joseph and Ellen Mullick
Aubin.
He was a Trumbull resident most of his life.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Schmidlin Aubin.
He was retired from General Electric after 50 years of service and was a
member of the Quarter Century Club and the Elfun Club. He was a member of the
St Catherine of Siena Choir and the Bridgeport Chapter of Barbershop Singers
(SPEBSQSA).
He leaves six daughters, Jo-Anne Sura of Trumbull, MaryBeth Franzese of
Shelton, Theresa Bogan of Milford, Janice Krol of Trumbull, Denise Reagan of
High Point, N.C., and Bernadette Allan of Huntington; five sons, George of
Worcester, Mass., Donald of Centerville, Va., Ray of Huntington, Gerald of
Trumbull, and Brian of Mooresville, N.C.; 28 grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; sisters, Victoria Hyatt of California, Ellen Rodgerson of
Bridgeport, and Rita Sayles of Milford; brothers, Denis Aubin of Florida and
Henri Aubin of Norwalk; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by
his daughter, Patricia Ann Aubin; grandson, Darrin Aubin; great-granddaughter,
Hillary; brothers, Albert, Arthur and Joseph Aubin, and sister, Irene Buckley.
Funeral services were held on December 14 in the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull
Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, and in St Catherine of Siena Church.
Interment was in St Michael's Cemetery.

Lucy V. Dukenski
A memorial service celebrating the life of Lucy Veronica Dybowski Dukenski
will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown, December 21 at 7 pm.
Mrs Dukenski, a retired teacher, died November 11. A resident of St Joseph's
Manor for the past 15 months, she was 84. She had taught in Terryville and
Monroe for 29 years. Widow of the late Walter Dukenski, she was born in Fall
River, Mass. She was a resident of the Bridgeport area for 70 years. She was a
graduate of Bridgeport Normal School and Central Connecticut State University.
She was a member of the Polish Cultural Club of Bridgeport, the Bridgeport
Retired Teachers, Association of Retired Connecticut Teachers, AARP, Baldwin
Center, Monroe Historical Society, Discovery Museum, and the Bridgeport
Hospital Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at both Bridgeport Hospital and the
Discovery Museum.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Ron and Carolyn Dukenski of
Newtown and Frank and Grace Dukenski of Trumbull; three grandchildren, John
(Jay) and Stephen Dukenski of Newtown and Hope Coppola and her husband,
Robert, of Bethel; two sisters, Eleanor Olenski of Trumbull and Sally Konecny
of Florida; a brother, Walter Dybowski of Wyoming; and numerous nephews,
nieces and stepfamily.
