One final point. Folks have to realize that the landscape in sports has changed dramatically just over the last 5-10 years with so much club play, probably for just about every sport but football. Kids no longer have to play HS sports as an avenue to college. In fact, a lot of the college recruiting is done through the clubs. Given this, It is just IMHO that even Parks & Rec need to evaluate their by-laws regarding field use. Maybe a sliding pay scale based on percentage of in-Town kids. Maybe 501(c)(3) organizations combined with the percentage of in-Town kids have a more affordable pay scale than for profit organizations. IDK but it has to change with the changing sports landscape or it will CONTINUE to fall apart.
"This group of parents are not interested in working with Babe Ruth,"...Can someone please explain why Babe Ruth is the be all to end all? Why does anyone have to 'work' with Babe Ruth in this Town? How does one private organization get exclusivity and control? Newtown needs to wake up. One can deny it all they want but many of the Town sports/leagues are a mess and why many have left for other organizations in other Towns.
